Meghan (Lyons) King
Director & Violin Instructor A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Meghan has been surrounded and influenced by music all of her life. At the age of four, Meghan's mother enrolled her in Suzuki violin at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music Preparatory Department; and at the age of ten, after developing a great love for music, Meghan decided to make performing and teaching violin her career. In May of 2011, Meghan graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Music in violin performance from the University of Memphis (U of M); she also received Suzuki Every Child Can! and Suzuki Books 1-4 training with Suzuki Teacher Trainer, Libby Armour, while at the U of M. In 2016, Meghan graduated with a Masters of Music in violin performance from Butler University and in 2017, she was an applied violin instructor at Purdue University. Currently, Meghan lives in Temple Terrace, Florida where she performs teaches, plays the occasional gig and performs for weddings & special events. Throughout over twenty years of study, Meghan has worked with accomplished performers and teachers, such as: Soh-Hyun Park Altino, Midori Goto, Alex Kerr, Tessa Lark, Raye Pankratz, Larry Shapiro, Gabriel Pegis, Paul Kanter, Stephen Clapp, as well as members of the Míro, Biava, Ceruti, Blair, Amernet and LaSalle string quartets. Meghan also had the pleasure of serving as concertmaster of the Hendricks Symphony Orchestra in Avon, Indiana during their 2013-2014 season and as concertmaster of the Butler Symphony Orchestra throughout their 2015-2016 season. Additionally, she uses her talents to perform at weddings and special events. In conjunction to her roles as Director and Violin Instructor with Appassionato Strings, Meghan has served on the violin faculty of Allegro Music Classes and Midwest School of Music. Meghan's primary goal is to share the life-long gift of music with every student she works with and every person who hears her perform. |
